Longevity by definition means a long duration of an individuals life or the length of ones life. Longevity can also mean thinking about means of extending and prolonging a human life as well as living it healthy. Everyone wants to live a long and happy life. As we all grow older we try to find methods that will prolong our lives we tend to look into changing our life style, changing our diet, exercise that will extend our lives, and supplements and herbal remedies. Here are tips to help you have a good health and longevity.

Exercise is among the most important things we can do for our health. Moving our bodies for at least 30 minutes a day will help to keep our heart strong, keep our weight stable, fight against certain diseases and help us to live a long prosperous life. Adding weight training to our routine will help build and maintain muscle tone, therefore, keeping our metabolism at an optimal level.

Drink healthy. Staying completely hydrated with drinks is crucial, but water is by far the most vital drink. Water can help clean your system out and keep you energized throughout the day. It may seem like a lot, but on average you should be drinking 8-10 glasses of water a day.

Eating a healthy diet of fruit, vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains is also a very important part of a healthy life. Eating several small meals a day will help keep the energy levels on an even keel throughout the day. Avoid the mid afternoon crash by eating every few hours and keeping it light and healthy. If it is hard to eat that often you may want to consider adding a protein shake to your daily food regimen.

Sleep. Without enough sleep, our immune system will be shot and it will be difficult to get through the day. Getting a good night’s sleep can make the world of a difference in how you feel and how much you can do the next day.

Mental and emotional well-being/ have fun. It is important not to neglect your mental and emotional states while you’re looking out for your health. Negative thinking, extreme stress and depression can actually kill a person if not dealt with quickly and properly. Having fun is certainly something that many people don’t consider when they are trying to live a healthier lifestyle. Getting out and having fun is crucial because it helps relieve the many stresses that are bottled up on a daily basis. Go out to a movie with your friends once in awhile. Go to the park and enjoy a nice sunny day. Or if you are more about relaxing, take time away from your hectic schedule to lie down and read a book.

Spiritual health. This is often one of the most excused areas of healthy living but at the same time, the most important. We as human beings at some point must come face to face with the reality of our frailty. We have limitations as humans and we need to learn to connect with our Creator to get beyond these.
